Thanksgiving '09

On Tuesday before Thanksgiving, we boarded a flight to Kansas City to visit Thad's family for a week. We had such a great time and Samuel was loved on so much. We really enjoyed visiting with so much family and eating some really yummy food...every night! Samuel slept GREAT while we were there. Naps that lasted 2 hours or more and sleeping through almost every night was really nice considering we didn't have our own crib. We got to finally meet little cousin Claire who is 2 months younger than Samuel. They were so precious! I know they will be great friends. Jackson and Samuel also got to meet for the first time and Samuel was completely awe struck by Jackson! We need him here at our house so Samuel can just stare at him while he plays with all of his big boy toys. Samuel also got to meet three of his Great-grandparents but I am saving those pictures for another post! What a special time for our little boy. Thank you Nana and Papa for a wonderful week! We can't wait to come back!

Happy Turkey Day!

Brrrr..it's much colder than Dallas!

Papa is pretty cool too!

Just Jackson being so cool!

Precious, Precious Claire Bear

Wait..I'm not the only baby here?

On Saturday, we went to Crown Center in downtown KC to see the trains and Christmas lights. Samuel...once again..had his jaw dropped the entire time! He LOVES to people watch...it's hysterical!

We decided to bundle Samuel and Jackson up and take a little walk to the playground! Jackson..I mean "Batman" led the way in his batmobile and we had so much fun!

First Christmas Tree

I decided to put the Christmas Tree up last Saturday night so it would be up when we got home from our week long trip to Kansas City. It was so precious because that next Sunday morning Samuel woke up to his first Christmas tree. It was absolutely priceless! He still stares at it when he is jumping in his jumperoo or in his exersaucer. It will be hard to take down this great source of entertainment. I can't wait to make Christmas such a special holiday for him!

College Gameday

November 14th was Thad's birthday! We decided what better way to spend it then by going to TCU (Thad's alma mater for undergrad) and check out Gameday. ESPN Gameday goes to a different college every Saturday and it just so happened to be at TCU. We had a great time and Samuel had a lot of fun people watching. It was a gorgeous day and we arrived around 1030 that morning. The 45 minute drive to Fort Worth was perfect for S's morning nap and afternoon nap when we headed home.

Drumroll Please....We have a "Half-year old"

Our little Samuel Cade is 6 months old! That's right...we have made it to half a year. Woo hoo! This has been such an unbelievable 6 months and I have never been happier. I thank God every single night for my sweet angel and am so thankful for the blessing he is to Thad and I. Here is what he is up to at 6 months:

  • Has his two front, bottom teeth

  • Got his first fever and cold this week
  • he now sits up for minutes at a time; I've only walked away once and he went straight back and got a pretty good scare but is doing much better.

  • LOVES food! He has oatmeal cereal twice a day and a veggie and a fruit daily as well. His favs are the "orange" veggies and bananas. He loved green peas until I introduced sweet potatoes and then that was the end of anything green.

  • He is sleeping fantastic now and we are very well rested parents.

  • He still takes 3 naps a day but if we are out and about he can roll with 2.

  • He really enjoys the car now that he is in a convertible car seat.

  • Thankfully he still loves Praise Baby.

  • He rolls over all of the time and sleeps on his tummy at bedtime and for naps.

  • No matter how much sleep his has had, he ALWAYS wakes up crying except for in the morning.

  • He likes to be in the Bjorn when we grocery shop.

  • He has discovered his tongue and loves to stick it out. This is cute now but I think in a couple of years he might get in trouble for this.

  • He has started grabbing his toes and sucking on them. This is so adorable to me and it is something I have waited a long time for him to do.

Here are the lyrics to one of my favorite lullaby songs. It is called "Miracle" by Celine Dion. If motherhood has done anything to me it has made me a complete sap! I get weepy quite often these days when I think about just how much I love this little dude. Anyway, I listened to this song when I was pregnant and now I sing it to him sometimes at bedtime.

Your my life's one miracle, everything I've done that's good

And you break my heart with tenderness, and I confess it's true

I never knew a love like this till you

You're the reason I was born, now I finally know for sure

And I'm overwhelmed with happiness, so blessed to hold you close

The one that I love most, though the future has so much for you in store

Who could ever love you more

The nearest thing to heaven, you're my angel from above

Only God creates such perfect love

When you smile at me, I cry. And to save your life, I'd die

With a romance that is pure in heart, you are my dearest part

Whatever it requires, I live for your desires

Forget my own, your needs will come before

Who could ever love you more

Oh there is nothing you could ever do, to make me stop loving you

And ever breath I take, is always for your sake

You sleep inside my dreams and know for sure

Who could ever love you more

Happy "half birthday" little one! We love you!

Fun times

I recently went to a local resale shop and bought S this jumperoo. He LOVES it! It was by far the best $35 I have ever spent. Here is an adorable pic of him in it. We also have a video of him going to town in it but that will have to wait because I can't figure out how to add it! Notice the drool!
Just flashin' that gummy smile for his momma

Halloween Fun

We had such a great Halloween with our little sock monkey! Saturday morning we went to the Patterson's house for a party. It was so funny seeing all of the little babes dressed up. Samuel had a great time because the party fell right in between his naps..perfect! That night we decided to go Trick-or-treating with some good friends and their two children. They came to our neighborhood because..well..it ROCKS on Halloween! I had no idea that our street was like this. Everyone was dressed up and hanging out..kind of like a block party. We decided to keep little S comfortable and cozied up in the stroller but we had so much fun just walking and seeing all of the fun!
