National Zoo

We had a perfect day in our nation's capital today! It was 80 degrees and perfect. Samuel and I decided to have a mommy/son date to the National Smithsonian Zoo. We arrived around 11 and stayed until 3! It was such a fun day:-)

Of course we visited the gift shop and he got such a unique take home souvenir..a truck.

Time to cool down with a popsicle!

Playing on the prairie dog tunnels!

We ended our fun day with a dinner date with daddy at our fav pizza joint, Pietanza.

Sidenote: if you have an active toddler like I do, the "monkey backpack" aka monkey leash is the best thing ever! I kid you not people were salivating over it at the zoo! I had so many comments about how people wish they had one. I was almost embarrassed to use it at first, but it has become our favorite accessory!

Outdoor fun!

We've been LOVING being outside lately.  Yesterday as my birthday, and after we got home from dinner Samuel wanted to make us of the last bit of daylight and swing! His look is one of pure happiness!

After school yesterday, we went to lunch and then to Michaels.  I love the dollar bin there.  We found some Cars bubbles that Samuel had a ball with.  Well, until he poured them all out.  That's why I'll only pay a dollar!

This cracks me up because it looks nothing like him!

Building Museum

Lego's everywhere!
A few weeks ago, and friend and I decided to take the kids to the Building Museum in DC.  They have a giant LEGO exhibit and a building zone play area for the kids.  We got lucky on this particular day because the place was empty...which doesn't happen very often living in such a touristy city.  It was fun!

Concentrating hard.

This is mostly what Samuel did while we were here...he thinks everything is a
jungle gym.  Oh the looks we got from the museum lady!

Samuel and his friend Z

"How many can I pull out of here and dump on the floor?"

The beautiful museum! This is one of the few museums in DC that isn't
free but we wanted to try it out.

Samuel came alive here!  Dump trucks and diggers and blocks OH MY!

Now that Spring is officially here, we are starting our museum hop and DC exploration.  I plan on going into DC with him at least once a week!  Can't wait!

Spring!

We went to DC on Saturday to see the Cherry Blossoms!  One word...gorgeous!  DC in the spring is just amazing.  Enjoy the picture overload!

Tidal Basin around the Jefferson and Roosevelt Memorial

Can't wait to do a paddle boat!

Jefferson Memorial

Snack time!

FDR memorial!  Funny story.  I've never been to this memorial and thought
I knew where it was.  I've always thought that FDR got the short end when
it came to memorials, but I was WRONG!  It was so great!
